The intervention, covering the two main areas of the plot located in the municipality of Carrara, primarily involves the redevelopment of the park and sports field, and the routine maintenance of the games library.
The main focus of the project is the re-functionalisation of all pathways and in the full restoration of the functionality of the area. The aim is to provide the neighbourhood with a new centre for socialisation and sport, updated to the highest European quality standards.
The large central area is the focus where there will be 3 sports fields: a 5-a-side foot football pitch, a padel court and a multi-sports pitch.
Serving the sports fields, in a central position, changing facilities and a café are housed in building with an elongated shape, defining a new urban front.
The building has an unbroken portico inspired by the Ancient Greek stoà, which directly overlooks the new green plaza and the mountains on the horizon.
A major revamp is planned in the arboreal and shrubbery areas, equipping the park with new trees that are resistant to plant diseases and suitable from a climatic point of view too.
Green areas find their precise spatial logic in the design. The large lawn is defined as a multifunctional area, open to leisure, exhibitions and events; the space to the south-west between the new containment wall and the café/changing facilities building, on the other hand, is a more shaded ‘vertical’ area, as well as a filter and protective space with respect to the road.
