The project involves the redevelopment of the square of Finale Pia by extending the public pedestrian area to the opposite side of the road, including a new pedestrian connection to the waterfront.
The concept of the project is to create a ‘piazza’ in the true sense of the term, an empty space delimited by noble building fronts that have a strong association representative of the local community and at the same time is suitable to fulfil the typical uses of the square.
The space created enhances the refined façade of the church, the façade detached from the oratory and the elegant and “institutional” facade of the school.
A few elements harmoniously solve a space that becomes precious again.
Stone paving is used in the search for balance with the colours and shapes of the buildings that delimit it. The square is sculptural. It becomes three-dimensional by its edges, with planes of different inclinations shaping a large, complete, resolved space.
