The Giussano Urban Park project has redeveloped and given new identity to an area close to its historic centre, previously seen as left over space and used for parking.
The project takes its forms from a previous design lost over time, which takes the spatial form from its principal lines.
As in many historical examples, the area adjacent to the main villa contains the principal green spaces, here defined as the garden square. The lavender-bordered flowerbeds host trees characterised by the colour of their foliage and flowers: Cherry and Plum trees with red foliage.
Farther away from the buildings, the meadows are intersected by paths of limestone and shaded by trees.
Spaces defined for new functions overlap with the ancient scheme, the park hosts the cycle path and the multi-purpose deck for events, markets and games.
In the great lawn the traces of historical paths create the space without building any obstacles allowing the full use of the area.
The park is easily accessible to a wide audience; special attention was given to the safety of the pathways specifically to allow users to overcome any mobility and sensory barriers.
